News week 4 by Sigbjørn and Kristian

Last week there was a lot of protests going on in Tunisia, which spread to Egypt, and have been one of the top news this week. It is said that the government did not keep their promises, and because of this the protests started in the streets. The government in Tunisia did answer the protestants call, but in Egypt, this has not yet happened.

On Tuesday this week, four demonstrators were killed in Cairo. The demonstrators want a departure of the interior minister, they want a rise in the minimum wage and an end to the restrictive emergency law. The main organising force is the youth people, and they have said to not stop until the demands of the Egyptian people have been met.

News week 4 by Kristin and Magnus

The most important news this week is the suicide bomb in Moscow. Monday a suicide bomb detonated in an airport outside of Moscow. 35 people were killed and more than 150 wounded. No one has yet takes responsibility of the terror attack. We can not even be sure of if it was a man or a woman who committed suicide.
Our sources are BBC, CNN and Al-Jazeera.

Al-Jaseera have chosen to focus on the security breaches while BBC Have written about the people who died in the attack, and who they left behind. For example Vadim Izmailov, a taxi driver, who left behind two sons, aged 9 and 19. BBC have also a case about that The Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, has sacked several officials after blaming the airport bombing on poor security.
CNN has written that “Russia won't fall 'to it's knees'”. President Dmitry Medvedev said Wednesday that those behind the deadly blast at Moscow's busiest airport were hoping, in part, to prevent him from attending the World Economic Forum. Medvedev rejects this and says that Russia will comply its responsibility to the citizens and to the world community.

This week has mainly been affected by the incidents of last week, and in particular the Australian flood and its after effects.

The most important news this week, or at least the one with the most focus, has been the visit of China's president in the U.S.A. The meeting was supposed to help building a better relationship between the two super powers in order for them to work togheter to address commen concerns like the global environmental issues.















"We now have normal relations, frequent exchanges and intensive coordination. This visit will build on very sound basis and provide a clear direction for the future. It will give our people great hope and the rest of world reassurance that China and the U.S. will work together to address common concerns."

Another important news this week is that Egypt blames Gaza group for the Alexandria church bombing. The Alexandria church bombing took place on New Year's eve and 23 people died. Now Egypt claim a small Palestinian group linked to al-Qaeda was behind the attack.

















This case has been covered by both BBC, CNN and Al Jazeera. They mainly have the same view and stress the fact that it is only accusations made by the Egyptian goveernement and not proven facts.

CNN provides the quote made by the Egyptian Interior Minister Habib al-Adly which is the foundation of the case and focus on how the Egyptian governement have been working to figure out who was behind the bombing.

BBC informs the reader about the consequenses of the bombing with the reactions of the christian minority and so on and stress the fact that it's only allegations for now. They also talked to a spokesman for the Army of Islam who proclaimed that they were not behind it, but praised those who did it.

Al jazeera focus on the after effects of the bombing, like rioting and demonstrations on the behalf of the christians. They also explain exatcly wht "the Army of Islam" is and has been in touch with Hamas.

News week 3

One of the top news this week have been the visit from China's president in the US. We chose BBC News, Al Jazeera English and FoxNews. The differences between those three is not very markable. The story is very easy to find in all of the three websites, but it is easiest to find it on BBC News. In Al Jazeera English and FoxNews, the article is very long and have a lot of text, fortunately, in BBC News there is a lot of pictures and even a sideshow of facts about the trade between China and the US. In all of the three articles, they focus on the sentence "a lot still needs to be done".  The most important news is in the top of the article. BBC and Fox have a kind of conclusion at the bottom, but Al Jazeera have not. BBC even have quotes that catch our attention. Al Jazeera and FoxNews have both a picture of first lady Michelle Obama, Prestident Hu and President Obama in the top, but BBC have a picture on the right side further down. We preferred the article to BBC News because of the sideshow, the way the article was present and because it was easy to read.
